One of the things I love about my iPad 2 is that I can create a blog post almost anywhere. I can do it on the couch while watching TV or in a Starbucks while having coffee. The smart cover gives me a good typing angle and the onscreen keyboard auto-corrects which speeds up my input. Originally I used BlogPress for my blogging tool of choice, but recently a new program called Blogsy came out which has taken iPad blogging to a new level.
Blogsy allows me to easily add hyperlinks, add formatting to text, and insert pictures and video clips quickly and easily. While you could do these in Blogpress, you needed to know HTML to do them properly. Blogsy allows you to do all of these with just a few finger selections.
When you first download Blogsy, it can be a little confusing. The program has two screens. One is the rich side for adding links, pictures and video, while the other side is the write side for adding text. Once you get this down, the program becomes very intuitive. To make learning easier, the author of the program has included video tutorial links which will have you up and running in just minutes.
Currently the only drawback to the program is that it cannot load internal pictures to your blog. You can import from Flickr and Picassa, but this may not be convenient for you. Because of this, the author has priced the program at $2.99. This functionality will be coming soon in a new update which will also have a price increase. If you are a blogger and use WordPress (self hosted or .com) or Blogger, do yourself a favor and get this program now. The author has a very helpful blog and is super responsive to problems.
Once you have written your post, it’s just a three finger swipe to send it on it’s way to your site. You can post directly to your blog or send up a draft post and do further editing online. Overall the program is simple to use, works well, and has awesome support. Once the new update comes out, I’ll be able to take pictures right on the iPad and include them in my post.
I was able to create this post in just minutes, and it came out great. If you have an iPad and blog, be sure to checkout the iPad appstore for more information.
