I had the pleasure of testing a new Apple iMac from our Apple rep over the weekend. It has a 20 inch screen and is powered by the new dual-core Intel microprocessor. The machine is very impressive and has amazing graphics. The iWorks software package is reasonably easy to use and I found myself creating content in just a few minutes.
One of the things I put together while testing the machine was a simple video podcast. In the past I’ve used my PC with Propoganda software for audio podcasting. The new iWeb package on the iMac proved to be powerful and put everything for a video podcast together in one folder. I put the actual podcast together in Garage Band with a soundtrack overlay and inserted graphics in under 30 minutes. It was just a drag and drop to insert the podcast into the webpage.
I would like to get your feedback on the finished test clip and make sure that most computers can play it. This is just a test clip so the voiceover and sound quality are not polished (don’t laugh too loud…) but the clip did work on the machines I’ve tested it on so far.
The video podcast test page can be accessed here. Click on the listen button to take you to the podcast page. Click on the play button at the bottom of the picture to play the clip. Currently the “subscribe” button does not work.
If the test page is accessible to most machines I may move to this format in the future. I would appreciate your comments and ideas to make this better. (This podcast requires the Quicktime plug-in to work properly)
